What happens during a visit and treatment of a young patient?

We know that the first visits to the dentist shape a child’s relationship with dental care for life. Therefore, our main goal is to create a friendly and safe environment where the child will not be afraid and will be happy to return. The approach to children differs fundamentally from adult care, and patience and play are key.

First Visit – Introduction and Adaptation (no drilling)

Visit in the Form of Play

The first meeting is primarily about getting acquainted. We will show the child the environment of the practice in a playful way. They can ride on the “magic chair”, look at their teeth in the mirror, try out the “blower” (air) or “shower” (water).

We’ll Count the Teeth

We will perform a simple, non-invasive examination – simply count and check all the teeth.

Building Trust

The goal of this visit is to eliminate any fear and build trust between the doctor, child and parent. If treatment is not urgently needed, we do not drill during the first visit.

The Treatment Itself – Always Painless and Understandable

Age-Appropriate Explanation

If a tooth needs to be repaired, we will patiently and calmly explain everything to the child in language they understand. Instead of frightening terms, we use expressions like “sleepy water” (anesthesia) or “we’ll clean the bug out of the tooth” (removal of caries).

Painlessness First

Treatment is always painless. Before applying anesthesia, we use a numbing gel so the child doesn’t even feel the injection itself.

Parental Presence

The presence and support of the parent during treatment is a matter of course for us. Your calm presence is the best support for your child.

Prevention and Motivation

Practicing Proper Brushing

Each visit also includes a demonstration and practice of proper brushing technique. We want the child to adopt good habits that will last a lifetime.

Sealing and Fluoridation

If appropriate, we will recommend and perform preventive measures such as fissure sealing (filling the grooves on molars) which effectively prevents tooth decay.

Our goal is that children are not afraid to come to us and that they take away not only a healthy tooth but also a positive experience.
